I am an avid birdwatcher, but I don't always have my binoculars around when I need them and I have to guess at birds that are just out of my range of vision - no longer! The Leica Monovid is with me ALWAYS...it is small enough to get carried in my car's glove box, briefcase, pocket. So lite I carry it on my morning run and I find I use it all the time! Leica quality is in full stride with the Monovid...it is a little tank. The ergonomics are fantastic. The collapsable eyepiece and cover, the knurled and dampened focusing ring, and the EXTRA CLOSE-UP LENS are engineering masterpieces. The gorgeous leather hard case ingeniously holds the close-up lens inside as a screwed on attachment, always available for serious macroscopic investigation of your subject. IMHO, no other optics come close to Leica and the Monovid optics are Leica at it very, very best. Though a little pricey as compared to other monocular brands, you get... Read more

The back lens has a sliding hood so if you wear glasses you do not have to fold back a rubber cup (which I find is a pain) the hood slides back & forth with ease. The leather case it comes with is very nice (has a belt loop on the backside) & has a handy holder for the the close up lens. I use the close up lens more than I thought I would, it is very handy for looking at insects & allows you to stay a nice distance back. It comes with a very nice wrist strap, but would have preferred it was a neck strap. I bought the neck strap at an added cost & love it (is just like the wrist strap but longer. I must admit I use both straps. Is a lot of money but worth it, should last a lifetime with proper handling. Being small it can go everywhere with me without it being a burden. I love bird watching, so I am always prepared. Would recommend it to anybody that is... Read more
