5.0 out of 5 stars It does the job!, April 26, 2012
This review is from: Motion Slider 36 Plus Camera Slider (Electronics)
I use this slider with my Canon 60D & 7D. Most of the time I try not to add to much stuff to the camera because I don't want to go through the trouble of setting up another tripod to balance this slider while shooting. Overall you're basically getting for what you have paid for. It's good for beginners. Of course there are more expensive ones out there that has a motor or manual crank so you don't have to use your hands to push your camera. This is a friction based slider. Not a oil based slider. Meaning it depends on you and how hard or soft you push your camera to have a faster or slower video. Other sliders slide with ease of a single finger. This one takes a little practice to get used to.

Cons:

- Need a good strong tripod or two tripods (works well with video tripod)

- Very heavy

- Doesn't have holes on the bottom end for tripod mounts, only had a single hole in the middle bottom for one tripod

I've used this few times love it, doesnt make much noise as its gliding on the rail and even has a hole to screw in a ball joint head mount to get multiple angles.

Since its not motorized, to get a smoother roll, I tied a shoelace to the moving base and pull it to avoid less jerk during the panning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid build camera slider!, November 2, 2011
This review is from: Motion Slider 36 Plus Camera Slider (Electronics)
This slider is well built and a solid design. You can mount your camera directly or use your own fluid/ball head. I like friction sliders because there is a small amount of tension when sliding that makes for a smoother slide. The slider weighs around 7-8 lbs, so you need a heavy duty tripod to support the weight. This PLUS model includes a bolt to mount to a bowl tripod. This works well b/c the tripod head will flex and mounting w/ the bolt makes for a solid mount. The sliding is smooth. It may take 2-3 slides to get the perfect shot b/c you are relying on your hand to push the carriage flawlessly.
