4 of 4 people found the following review helpful Fun converter for the 14-42mm II Lens Only, November 15, 2011 By Opti Mystic "Poco Loco" (San Jose, California) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Olympus FCON-P01 Fisheye Converter For Olympus 14-42mm MFT Lens (Electronics) This is intended for the 14-42mm II and II-R lenses ONLY, but not on the first version 14-42mm lens. It is optically excellent but is slightly heavy, so handle with care. It is very sharp in the center but slightly soft at the edge with maximum aperture; if you stop down it's better at the edges. I gave it 5 stars because it does what it is supposed to do very well.
It is .74x converter according to Olympus. Since it is a fisheye lens with the usual barrel distortion, it has about a 120 degree field of view. That's not the extreme 180 degree wide field of view of the more expensive but excellent Panasonic 8mm fisheye lens -- but for less money it gives you good performance. It's compact enough to carry in your bag and set up for the occasions you need this wider perspective.
It has a custom bayonet mount which I hate - why does Olympus do this? I suppose the rationale is that this fisheye lens has a slight hood, which should be positioned right for any... Read more
very wobbly when attached to lens, January 17, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Olympus FCON-P01 Fisheye Converter For Olympus 14-42mm MFT Lens (Electronics) I just received this Olympus fisheye adapter to go with my new PEN E-PM1 compact camera. I am just packing the adapter up to return to Amazon. When attached to the front of the lens by the bayonet mount, the adapter wobbles substantially. It makes my new camera feel like a piece of junk. I'll buy one of the cheaper knock-offs and see if it is any better.
2 of 4 people found the following review helpful Good, cheap, fisheye solution, September 26, 2011 By Just Some Guy (South Carolina) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Olympus FCON-P01 Fisheye Converter For Olympus 14-42mm MFT Lens (Electronics) This works well. It's my first fisheye, and it works like I expected it to. It's much heavier than I thought it would be, and gets pretty bulky when attached to the lens, so be aware of that. In the end, I'll probably change it out for the new Samyang, because I think manual focus would be helpful, but this is definitely a working, affordable fisheye solution.
