Very nice lens, very high price, December 1, 2011 By Opti Mystic "Poco Loco" (San Jose, California) - See all my reviews This review is from: Panasonic DMW-LWA52 Wide Angle Conversion Lens for DMC-LX5 Cameras, 0.75x Magnification (Electronics) This lens is a perfect match for the LX5 and expands the widest end of the zoom range from 24mm equiv. to 18mm equiv. with minimal barrel distortion and chromatic abberation at the extreme edges. There are very few wide angle conversion lenses that cover the 24mm field of view without vignetting or fuzzy focus at the edges. This one is almost free of those defects. I compared it with a number of 52mm mount conversion lenses I had on hand and this topped them all. The lenses that did the best were for video cams that had large lenses, so they did not vignette. But those only focused at the wide end of the zoom range and had higher distortion.
It must be mounted on a lens adapter tube that attaches to the lens, after removing the splined ring on the front of the lens. Incidentally, there are perfectly good clones of the adapter tube available on Amazon if you want to save a little money. But I have not found another lens as good as this one, so I have to recommend it... Read more

First need the time to unscrew and screw everything on, and if I want too add so much bulk to the camera - it is no longer pocket-able with the adaptor and conversion lens on. I really like using this lens with the electronic viewfinder so I know for sure what I'm framing - the combination works great for me especially in bright sunlight but also because I can more clearly see what is happening at the edges of the frame.
This lens does distort any straight lines at the extreme edges of the frame - doorframes will no longer be straight, etc. It does not seem to alter greatly the low light level capabilities of the camera, but the big conversion lens renders the flash (which I seldom use anyway) useless.

It is fantastic and a excellent adjunct to the camera's 24 - 90 mm lens. Adding the 18 mm lens adapter did NOT reduce the brightness of the camera's F2.0. There is also very minimal distortion so its terrific for interior shots and videos and exterior shots when space is tight. Highly recommend this camera and wide angle lens adapter for real estate agents.
